CALYPSO AEONS

A video and photography collaboration with Lou Lyons, shot on location in December 2024. The project was born from a personal moment: during a period of illness while repairing a new home, I discovered Black Prince (Kenroy Smith, 1944–2026) through the album Raw Kaiso I: Live in Concert in Port of Spain. His song "De Letter" stayed with me. I brought it to Lou, and together we built Calypso Aeons, contemporary visual interpretations of archival calypso, starting with Lou's renditions of Black Prince's "Kill Ah Cat." and "De Letter"
Black Prince passed on February 20, 2026. This work exists because his voice reached someone who had never heard it before, and that's the point: keeping these songs alive for ears that haven't found them yet.
